‘Bones’ season 9, episode 8 preview: First look at ‘The Dude in the Dam,’ move to Fridays
“Bones” season 9 is getting set for a big change, and we are not just talking about Booth and Brennan being a married couple. The show is instead moving to Friday nights, where it will for a new lineup in hopes of giving Fox some real traction that they have not had on the night in some time, save for maybe “MasterChef Junior” (which fared decently, all things considered).
What makes the last episode to air on a Monday in “The Dude in the Dam” so particularly interesting is that this is actually an episode that was filmed last year during season 8, and then kept over to this year. There’s not really going to be any sort of reference to the wedding here unless there was some work after the fact, but there could at least still be a fun case worth checking out.
Want to know more? Then allow the synopsis below to be your guide:
“The Jeffersonian team investigates the murder of a failed male model, whose only source of income resulted from his sperm donations. When the team learns that he falsified records, they start to suspect anyone who was jilted by his contributions. Meanwhile, Brennan struggles with social niceties when she is drawn into a feud with fellow author Tess Brown (guest star Nora Dunn), and Hodgins gets in Touch with his motherly instincts when he plays host to a fly larva.”
The promo below is also sure to mention the move to Friday, which is in our mind a great strategy to do so this early. Thanks to this, there is no longer going to be an issue of people complaining that Fox didn’t make the announcement in enough time. Clearly the network thinks that they can get better ratings with another show, but it is still to be seen if that is actually true.
What do you what to see in “The Dude in the Dam,” and how upset are you about “Bones” being forced to shift over to Friday nights? Do you think it will still fare well? Share below, and click here to read our full review of Monday’s episode.

I know I’m in the minority here but I actually think the move to Fridays is not a bad one. Consider all of the hot shows that are now on Friday: Grimm, Dracula, Haven (SyFy), Hawaii Five-O and now Bones. Fridays are getting to be more of a “state” night (stay and date) because it’s just too darned expensive to go out to a movie. Plus “movie” stars seem to be flocking to TV as the number of film projects dries up due to costs. I’m looking forward to Bones on Fridays but I would love it if they could team Bones up with another scripted show instead of all the doggone reality shows. I just don’t get the lure of watching people’s personal lives implode for the camera. Bones has weathered moves across the week and if we need to start a letter writing campaign, Twitter, Facebook postings or whatever to get Bones a 10th season then let’s do it. NCIS and CSI are still going strong after 10+ years, so why not Bones!

I think it could help the show because it will not have to compete with other hit shows like dancing with the stars. And it will only be on Fridays for this year because the X factor and American idol will probably be canceled along with glee giving bones a Wednesday or Thursday time slot. I am not saying that I like the move to Friday but the pros out rule the cons

Bones has been tying, if not beating Dancing with the Stars in recent weeks, so I don’t see DWTS as a problem. My problem is the disrespect FOX has treated Bones with. The network has moved the show to every single weeknight, including some time changes. It takes advantage of the fact that fans will follow it wherever it goes, so therefore chucks it wherever it’s convenient for the network at the time and thinks nothing of it. Sticking it on Fridays is the biggest slap in the face for the show and the fans – especially when it’s been holding its own in the ratings on Monday. A Friday move indicates to me that FOX doesn’t care if the show loses some viewers and isn’t in a prominent lineup anymore. Even though it’s one of the highest rated shows they have, it’s done its due for them so it doesn’t matter to them whether it succeeds or fails anymore.
I do think that the show will be renewed and I will continue to watch it wherever it goes. However, I will never be okay with the move to Friday – not until that night is as popular as it was in the early ’90s.

Just wanted to add, since I didn’t catch it the first time, Glee is already contracted for next season and it’s been confirmed that it will be its last. Personally, I think Glee should be the one moving to Fridays.
As for X-Factor/Idol, if this season isn’t their last, I hope FOX decides to follow suit with SYTYCD & DWTS and sticks to one two-hour night on Thursday. The results show has always been pointless, IMO, with too much fluff when they can say the results within 5 minutes. They’d save on money for guest artists to perform and free up another night for new/existing shows.

I am a Bones lover. Its one of those rare jewels in the rough. Not many shows can keep you interested for a long period of time. I am not as interested in Almost Human as I am invested in Bones. I will follow Bones to Friday but FOX should reconsider this move. Fridays basically tell fans you no longer want the show not to mention in normal standings its sort of bad luck.. If ratings were horrible this would be understandable. Bones is very stable in ratings. A very reliable show. I could watch to season 12 and beyond. I dont think Bones ratings will vary much going to Fridays because of devoted fans.Lets hope the network will at least renew it. Not a pro…but this does not seem to be a great idea for boneheads like me.
