‘Bones’ season 9, episode 7 review: Booth and Brennan’s honeymoon includes Nazis, bodies

What's ahead -For most recently-married couples, a honeymoon is an opportunity to get away and really try to relax. There are not that many opportunities that you have to do that in life, especially when you are newly-married.

But on Monday night’s “Bones” season 9 episode, we saw Booth and Brennan basically do what Booth and Brennan do: Try to solve a case! The only difference here is that this case took place in Argentina, where Brennan refused to take part in the normal honeymoon traditions of kicking back and having some drinks poolside. Instead, she just had to solve a case instead. While this episode was still shot in Los Angeles, at least the crew did a good job in making it look like Buenos Aires complete with overhead shots, music, and a new lab for Brennan to work in.

This was a bizarre case, one that was somewhat fun and also somewhat strange. There were gold bars and Nazis hiding out in Germany, and the challenge came for them this week in making sure that there was justice … regardless of who the victim was or what they had done. The reveal of the murderer was a surprise in itself, mostly because it was really the last person you saw coming in one of the people who was actually helping out on the case.

While Booth and Brennan were overseas, the rest of the Jeffersonian spent their time trying their absolute hardest to take care of another pressing issue: Taking care of children. The honeymoon story actually ended rather sad when it comes to the reveal, so this was a nice bit of light energy seeing just how terrible of a time the rest of the characters had with babysitting. Hopefully, this was a learning lesson for the two: Taking care of children is a lot of work.

“The Nazi on the Honeymoon” was an episode that was entertaining at times, but problematic at others. In the end, we really can’t get over the fact that Booth barely seemed to get anything he wanted while Brennan got to sidetrack them on a lengthy (and difficult) case. Grade: C+.
