‘Hart of Dixie’ season 3, episode 5 review: Is George Tucker the right man for Zoe Hart?
Season 3 of “Hart of Dixie” has been polarizing this summer now that Zoe has brought her new boyfriend Joel to live in BlueBell with her and their chemistry is more like a brother/sister relationship and makes many fans cringe when they kiss, but is Joel really fitting into the town?
Dash’s blog poll: So there’s a poll on if people think that Joel is right for Zoe and when she learns that it’s only 13% she’s concerned that people don’t like him. What was really weird about this was that Wade admitted to voting “yes” to this poll. This Wade/Joel bromance has a major “ick” factor to it, it’s almost like the Wade/Zoe relationship never happened. Zoe decides to try and raise Joel’s likeability factor so Zoe signs her and Joel up to take out the Christian youth group to go zip-lining, but when he tells her that he’s afraid of heights George ends up getting roped into going with her. Joel decides that he doesn’t want to go, until he learns about George and Zoe’s past feelings for each other. What’s really strange about this is that Joel gets really jealous about George… and is sitting around telling Wade all about it. Why doesn’t he have a problem with Wade who she actually had a relationship with?
Joel decides that he needs to go off into the woods to find Zoe and show her that he can be just as manly as George, but before he gets there, Zoe learns just how deep George’s feelings really ran for her in the past when she hears the song he wrote about her. When Wade drives Joel up to the camp site and he drunkenly zip lines without a harness, Wade tells her how crazy it is that everyone thinks she will end up with George, because he knows that she is still in love with him.
The one good thing that came out of this was that George stopped blaming Zoe for his life being so messed up and instead of hating her, he’s going to move forward… also more people are starting to be on team Joel.
The Belles blow it: Without Lemon as part of the Belles, Cricket is botching everything up, including the flowers for the gazebo’s magazine spread. Lavon asks Lemon to help, and she says yes, but in return she wants Lavon to try and help her prove to everyone that her new international man of mystery, Peter, actually exists. She finds his name and is able to prove that he’s real, but not before Meatball declares his love for her. He chains himself to the gazebo and says that he won’t leave unless he has one last kiss… a kiss that is photographed and makes the gazebo magazine. As for Peter, Lemon decides that she’s not going to contact him and just remember the night they had for what it was.
The George and Lynly connection: So is there hope for these two or is it just over? Just when things are starting to look up for them and George is warming up to the idea, Wade reminds him that Lavon will rip his arms off if he finds out. Lynly says she understands, but isn’t going to give up on him.
We were happy to at least see George and Wade come back into the romantic fold with Zoe again, even if it’s just talking about their feelings present and past. This season has felt almost like Zoe never felt anything for either one of them, like season 1 and 2 never happened. Season 3 feels very forced when it comes to the Zoe Joel story line and the fact that they had to have an episode forcing people to like Joel tells us that the network knew no one would like him for Zoe… and we still don’t. Grade: C-

totally agree with Zade, the chemistry between Zoe and Wade was always so special and we all want to return scenes between them, please! True, it’s as if for screenwriters, seasons 1 and 2 had not existed.

Wade was right…his comment to her was the only honest moment of the night. Zoe dies still love Wade and of course Wade has always loved her. However, the writers seem to have forgotten alll that has gone before in favor of the chemistry-free Zoe and Joel Show. I’ve had enough…I want my Zoe/Wade romance back on track so I can enjoy watching HOD again.
What was the point of the season 2 finale if the writers act like it never happened?

I actually like Zoe and Wade together. She makes him be a better person (minus the fact that he cheated on her)and he makes her stop and think but i agree with everyone else Joel has got to GO!

Zoe and Joel? George and Lynly? Lemon
and Meatball?! Boring and totally ridiculous!!! If Zoe and George don’t start
showing interest in each other soon I’m done with this show. Completely agree
with gabj!!!! Producers bring George and Zoe back and stop trying to make us
like Joel!

Episode 5 had a few comical moments but I couldn’t help but wonder if maybe I missed something or if the writers of this episode missed the whole second season. There just seems to be a big disconnect.
In season two the storyline seemed so well thought out. Even when I was disappointed it made sense; it always fit so well.
Mainly, I just miss Wade. I feel like the writers took such care to develop this character and then bam (as he would say) he’s no longer a part of the picture or any picture. I miss his witty lines and good ole boy wisdom that Zoe needed and learned to heed. I miss those subtle, sexy looks and I miss those abs.

I 100% agree. This reason I got hooked on the show in the first place was Zoe and George including Lavon and Lemon exciting storylines. I like the original Lemon believe it or not. It was a unique character even if she was not always nice. I like Wade’s character and the triangle that was created from the start and he has a lot of fans but to me with Zoe it has always been mostly physical or something to make him feel good about himself. Good girl meets bad boy and changes bad boy…been done. Wade is not changing and he shouldn’t. Now the show is taking such an odd turn with none of the original fun episodes, strong writing and interesting characters. Joel?? George and Zoe are the royal couple of Bluebell or at least I keep hoping :)

I’m waiting for Lenny’s crazy side to show its self as that is the only role she should have in the entire drama of the show as I truly hate this character. I almost want to fast forward through her part. George has to end up with Zoe and stay that way. If the writers don’t stop completely botching the writing of the script I can see myself and a great percent of fans getting off the season 3 train wreck.

I agree with you on one point that a lot of fans may stop watching HOD—-but not if they don’t put George and Zoe together but if they don’t put Wade and Zoe BACK together. The majority of fans want Wade and Zoe and I mean like 80 + %. George can be a rebound for a couple of weeks after Joel leaves, and he will leave, but she will soon realize George is like Joel to her. She cares about him but her heart belongs to Wade. George and Zoe on screen just have no pizzazz, no spark. When the scene of her telling him that she missed him as a friend—-there was nothing. Just wa wa wa wa wa… They act it well but there is nothing there, nobody’s home in that relationship. Zoe and Wade, the skies light up, no matter what kind of scene they have together. I am really floored with the way season 3 has gone. Like Judith said, it is as if season 2 finale didn’t happen. And what about season 1 and season 2? I am totally confused with the creator and the writing. Maybe that is why the ratings are going down in season 3. I hope this show is not canceled! I do like the other story lines and cast. Of course, my main reason to watch is because of Wade and Zoe and their electricity together. Wade loves her and always has and she loves him. She is just afraid to go that deep into herself. She needs to get past the fear.

Ready for the writers to stop this whole boring season 3, and go back to the core of the show, a love triangle. Not this crazy Joel and Lenly thing. Enough! The elements of season one were so great,,and I wish they would go back to that.

Honestly I think and hope she ends up with George they been so on and off on there feelings since season one and the whole trip to New Orleans when he was on his denials on how he felt towards Lemons Affair it made us all as favs see how amazing the two would be as a Pair. But let’s hope that what Hart said after everything at there breakfast during S1 sticks that “right now isn’t the right time I don’t want to be your rebound one day will be together the stars will align on our time” ” we just have to hope” so you know that left us wondering even at the end of S2 when she confessed she still loved him but once again got drunk and slept with Wade that she and him might have that shot SOON!! because honestly I think she is really done with Wade and tonight when she admitted she missed George idk if it was just me but you could feel it even in his face and the whole Lenly Moment idk I can’t see it happening I don’t feel she is the perfect match for him I think just like the ppl of BLUEBELL :hint hint: WE ARE ALL WAITING FOR THE LONG DUE GEORGE & ZOE TO ARRIVE JUST WHEN WHEN and I wonder if they build there friendship back with there true feelings show again will ZOE mess it up a third time smh is Wade right?! Let’s hope not
