‘The Walking Dead’ season 4, episode 5 preview: ‘Internment’; chance for Lauren Cohan to shine

The latest -The Walking Dead” seems to right now have a pretty common theme carrying through most of it: We’re watching a ton of hopeless characters try to find a way to survive, and one of those at the moment is clearly Lauren Cohan’s Maggie. She is clearly just one of people in dire straights, and given her role on the show and her connection to Glenn, we anticipate her story in particular getting a ton of airtime in an episode with the rather ominous title of “Internment.”

In the promo below, you can at least get a few signals as to the desperation of this situation, especially when it comes to a man in Hershel who has more of a reason to worry than anyone.

What is also a little bit interesting here is simply that the show does not even waste a second trying to look back on what was in our mind the main event of tonight’s episode: Carol getting kicked out of the prison by Rick and sent on her way by herself to survive. This is something that is a bit different than the standard “Walking Dead” departure, mostly since the majority of the departures end up with people dying (and maybe she still will). The saddest part of it is just that, as we noted in our review, the hopes for that hookup you’ve been waiting to see between Carol and Daryl are significantly lower.

Unfortunately, the official synopsis for this episode via AMC gives away significantly less than the promo does:

“Assorted enemies pressure Rick and the group; the survivors and the prison may reach a breaking point.”

As you may know at this point, the primary reason for this strategy from the network to be so coy is simply because they release these synopses a long time in advance. Rather than try to give away any major spoilers here, they attempt to just give you the basics and leave most of the good stuff a mystery until after the episode airs. In our mind, this happens to be a good move.

Is there anything that you are hoping for from “The Walking Dead,” and who do you think will be the next character to take off in some shape or form? Be sure to share below!
