‘Homeland’ season 3, episode 7 preview: Saul makes an even bigger gamble
How is “Homeland” going to top itself at this point? By taking another gamble on a character that has already taken plenty of them in Saul. A few weeks after we saw a grand “magic trick” courtesy of the producers that revealed what he and Carrie Mathison were up to, he is now going to try to do something else that can be best described as “creative” in an effort to try and take down Javadi.
What you have is the promo below, which features a few interesting alliances and even Mandy Patankin’s character making a surprising plea, and also a short synopsis that suggests that a now-released Carrie is going to get her feet wet in a different world than the one that she is frequently a part of:
“Saul makes the gamble of his career; Carrie and Quinn try to contain a local police investigation; Mira’s marriage is at a crossroads.”
Do we really care so much about the marriage? While we know that there are some out there who prefer to see “Homeland” constantly immersed more in the world of the main characters’ work at the CIA, we like seeing a little of where they come from. So long as it does not go completely overboard as it did at times with the Dana storyline earlier this year, we are not nearly as upset about it. “Homeland” is at least starting to pick up steam and make up for a slow start to the season; let’s just hope that it can stay that way, and that we are not getting set up for any more “tricks” that make us question what we are watching on the show.
