ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 3, episode 4 review: Who did Nolan Ross just kiss?

Take a look -Stop the cynicism for a minute, and embrace the good news: “Revenge” is back. After an extremely disappointing second season and even a show that has at times started off sloppy this year, tonight’s episode really managed to bring together everything that you have been waiting for since the show’s first season.

Where there shockers? Plenty of them. Let’s start things off here with Daniel Grayson trying to cover up his father’s role in clearing the name of Conrad in the car accident that took the life of Pastor Paul. He was trying to protect his own self-interest, but Emily fired back by outing Conrad’s DUI to the press. Yes, these two are still engaged even if he was staying at a hotel rather than actually with Emily for the time being.

But what made this episode so fantastic is that we genuinely saw that every major player in the Hamptons was up to something.

Victoria – In an effort to reclaim her freedom from Conrad, she managed to get Patrick’s help in taking on a new position as an art dealer and becoming an art gallery owner. Suddenly, she has the power to really free herself from her husband.

Conrad – He learned that he is not actually suffering from Huntington’s Disease, and is a free man once again to further “the interests of the family.”

Aiden – He’s working to help Emily from within, as she is working slowly and surely to try and take down the Graysons at the wedding that she is planning with Daniel. (How romantic…)

Nolan – Did you see kiss between him and Patrick coming? This was an interesting move on his part to try and make Patrick feel like he had some sort of power of him. In reality, Nolan knows some of the truth now about Patrick’s past, and he is playing him. It’s a nice little back and forth.

All of these plans are there and they are complicated, but at the same time easy to understand. This is the “Revenge” that we have long been waiting for and let’s just hope that it lasts. Easily, the best episode since nearly the end of season 1. Grade: A-.
