‘White Collar’ season 5 spoilers: Tim DeKay on challenges for Peter, Matt Bomer’s Neal
Tonight, USA is bringing back a fan favorite in “White Collar” for its fifth season, and it will not take very long at all for relationships to be tested. The major difference? The tables are being turned. No longer is Neal Caffrey going to be the token jailbird; instead, Peter has the trouble of trying to clear his name, and having to rely on someone else to have a a future.
With all of this in mind, think of this season by and large as a return to the show’s roots, with a little bit of a different twist. Speaking to TVLine, series star Tim DeKay had to say the following about his relationship with Matt Bomer’s character, and how they are going to struggle once again with the notion of trying to figure out how to make their partnership work:
“This distrust is literally related to Peter’s life and Peter’s career. Before, the distrust was about, ‘I think you stole something. I don’t think you did.’ A third party was involved in that distrust. Now, it’s extremely personal, and it’s about Peter’s career and Peter’s life. And because it comes so much to a head, Peter and Neal will, eventually, reveal their cards to each other and talk about their relationship in a way that they never talked about it. It’s interesting because these guys have always gone about without ever really saying, ‘Hey, you matter a lot to me. You’re one of my best friends, but I don’t trust you.’ They never had to say that, address their relationship. It’s just been a given and a silent understanding and a wonderful one. This season, they’ve got to address it. It’s great and exciting as to how they get that addressed.”
DeKay also teased that the relationship is going to continue going strong for Peter and his wife Elizabeth, and there is also going to be another change for it, as well. What does that mean? He says that the two are moving, but we are sure that there is going to be a whole bunch of speculation about something more than that going on.
