‘The Good Wife’ season 5 spoilers: Series boss insists that Kalinda love interest still appearing

The latest -Are we still going to see Juliet Rylance on “The Good Wife” season 5? Earlier this week, it didn’t seem so thanks to reports that the actress and her character, a potential love interest for Kalinda with a history of working with her, was cut from the season premiere and there were no scheduled appearances from her in the near future. However, one of the show’s bosses is now insisting that there is still a story to come here that both includes Kalinda and this character in it.

Speaking to reporters at a recent screening of the upcoming October 27 episode (per TVLine), which has been advertised already as one of the greatest things to hit television quite possibly ever (or at least it feels that way), co-creator Robert King explained the reason behind not including Rylance early on:

“We didn’t have the time in the episode to build up the chemistry [between the pair], so we put a pause on [the storyline]. We just didn’t want to make a mistake again … We’re putting a pause on it — it’s not going away. Whatever news reports that say it’s going away it’s not at all.”

If you are wondering what King means by “make a mistake again,” it is likely a reference to the simple notion that most people absolutely loathed the story involving Kalinda and Nick last season. It didn’t mesh well with the rest of the show, there were moments where it felt almost out of character for Kalinda, and it got to be so annoying that he was booted from the show unceremoniously once the fan reaction started to pour in. When you have ratings that are poor even for this disappointing season on CBS, you need to do whatever you can to ensure that the show you put on TV is grade “A” awesome. “The Good Wife” doesn’t have much wiggle room, which makes every tiny decision all the more important.

While Sunday night’s new episode may not have with it the same level of out-of-this-world hype, the preview article we have here does mention the return of Emmy-winner Carrie Preston. So read it, and rejoice the arrival of some more great guest stars!
