ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: Olivia Pope’s ‘dinner’ with dad

Remember how it was said all summer long that you were going to have some opportunities to learn about Olivia Pope’s past on “Scandal” season 3? Well, you are not going to be waiting very long at all for your first major flashback episode.

The second installment of this season, entitled “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” is really going to be all about Olivia’s past with Rowan, who we saw in the very tail end of this past season. The two, as you would expect based on that little shocker, are not going to have the best relationship in the world. Want some more verification of that? Then just take a look at the synopsis below:

“Through flashbacks we learn more about Olivia’s estranged relationship with her father. Meanwhile, both the White House and Pope & Associates are still in the middle of cleaning up the very big and very public mess they created.”

By the end of this episode, maybe the picture starts to become a little bit clearer as to why Olivia is the way that she is, and just what she is hoping to do with her life and with her firm. Also, hopefully we’ll get a better sense as to why these two characters are estranged from each other, and if there is a way now that Rowan can actually help Olivia in some way. Remember that he is a smart man with connections, after all, and this can go a long way in getting you through a particularly messy / nasty situation such as an affair with the president.
