‘Saturday Night Live’: Seth Meyers waiting to see if he can balance show, ‘Late Night’

More news -We already know for sure that “Saturday Night Live” is going to feature Seth Meyers as a part of the show (and as the anchor for “Weekend Update”) until February, when he will take off to fulfill the job as host of the “Late Night” franchise.

But, earlier this summer there were some interesting comments made by none other then executive producer Lorne Michaels, where he said that he would love to see the show go on with Seth as a part of it for the entire year. This, in our humble opinion, seems to be something that is a pipe dream at best. There are so many moving parts when it comes to taking on these sort of shows, and even though they may film in the same building in New York City, this is only good for so much.

Well, Seth himself has finally spoken out about the talk, and he simply said that to be frank, he is really not sure what will happen. Speaking to Ryan Seacrest during the Emmy red-carpet show today, his response to whether or not he was going to stick around for the rest of the year is simply a “maybe.” He is pretty confident about enjoying the show until at least February, but after that he is going to play it by ear and see just what the future could end up holding for him. The priority is on making the late-night series work, and Lorne would agree with that, given that he serves as an executive producer on it.

No matter what happens with Seth and his job, the good news that we can share about this is that Cecily Strong will be co-hosting the “Weekend Update” for at least the first half of the year. Who knows? Maybe she will keep the gig even beyond that.
