‘Saturday Night Live’: Cecily Strong to join Seth Meyers as ‘Weekend Update’ anchor

More news -The latest news related to “Saturday Night Live” is in our mind both good and bad in many ways. The great news here is that we now know who is going to be joining Seth Meyers on “Weekend Update” starting up on September 28. The bad news? It’s someone who also has one of the most memorable characters on the sketch show these days.

In an interview with the New York Times, executive producer Lorne Michaels confirmed that Cecily Strong, who drew huge reviews for her “The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation with at the Party,” is going to be the new co-anchor when the show returns alongside Meyers.

Michaels also stated that he would like to see if he can convince Seth to stay on board until the end of the season, as his new late-night show is located in the same building and he may be able to come over and do both. There is no word about whether or not Strong will take over this role permanently, but we imagine that she will.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed in this interview that Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett, John Milhiser, Noël Wells and show writer Michael Patrick O’Brien have all been confirmed to be joining the show onscreen this year. Meanwhile, Tim Robinson has been shifted from featured player over to a member of the writing staff.
