‘Dexter’ season 8, episode 10 preview: The Argentina dream continues for Dexter, Hannah

The future -If you are feeling frustrated with the way that “Dexter” is winding down right now, we completely understand. Is the idea of Dexter Morgan running away to Argentina with Hannah really the ending that anyone envisioned prior to this final season? We can’t imagine so. He’s not only living out her dream rather than his own with this plan, but it’s a dream that she first cultivated with another man in mind in Wayne Randall.

It is ultimately rather difficult to find a starting point as to why Hannah is an unpopular character for many Dexter fans, but we think one of the core motivations behind it is not necessarily the writing or Yvonne Strahovski’s character; it is instead what she represents. The fascination towards Dexter is that he is different, and his behavior patterns rarely map out in a similar fashion to those of ordinary people.

But when it comes to Hannah, there is something that suddenly attaches him to the rest of the human population: Love. Sure, it’s a bizarre sort of love with a woman who is also a killer, but he shows the same symptoms of it as everyone else. He thinks and talks about her all the time, sometimes makes crazy decisions for her, and would follow her anywhere. The difference between her and the Lumen story in our eyes is that Dexter was more of a romanticized knight in shining armor for her. The two had a mission that led to them falling in love along the way. The primary side effect to being with Hannah is that she rips apart the rest of his world.

So in the end, we’re not rooting for the happily ever after for this couple in Argentina. It just seems like too easy of an out, and completely against the spirit of the character. But while we have our worries that the show is going down this road, we really don’t see the story winding down like this in the end. Time will tell, and patience may also be a virtue here.

While the next “Dexter” season 8 episode (entitled “Goodbye, Miami”) may not air until next week, you can still read some more news when it comes to it over at the link here.
