‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: Stephen Amell on Oliver / Laurel, the island, directors, and more

More scoop -Rather than focusing on one simple scoop with this “Arrow” season 2 article, we’re going to bounce all over the place to provide you with some of the remaining pieces of information from Stephen Amell’s Q&A session at Fan Expo this past weekend. We were in the audience, carefully taking notes in between jokes from the actor and constant applause from the crowd.

Want to read the first part of our Amell – Fan Expo coverage? Head over to the link here! The focus of that article is on the possibility of Amell playing the Arrow in a “Justice League” movie, and how far up on the DC chain they had to go in order to get permission to use the Barry Allen / the Flash character on the show.

1. Oliver and Laurel’s status – For those of you hoping that the couple is going strong when the show starts, they won’t be. While the two may not necessarily be furious at each other, Amell claims that the two parties are “on a break” when the show starts back up on Wednesday, October 9.

2. An important directing announcement – David Nutter, who was in the chair (metaphorically, anyway) for the pilot episode, will be back for an episode this season. One other interesting tidbit about Nutter? He also directed the Red Wedding episode of “Game of Thrones,” and will return for one more this coming season.

3. Missions – If you liked seeing undercover Felicity Smoak last year, the good news is that there will be plenty more of that. Also, there’s “always hope,” per Amell, on him and Felicity getting together. Don’t judge based solely on the comics here.

4. The island – While Amell would not share much information here, he said that everything “is going to crap” in the flashback portion of the show this year. By this regard, we think that this island is starting to resemble the one from “Lost.”

5. A real hero – Rather than seeing Oliver strictly as a “vigilante” this season, prepare yourself for some more “heroic” moments.
