‘Downton Abbey’ season 4: First photo of Tom Cullen’s ‘love interest’ for Michelle Dockery’s Mary

Take a look -Are we really going to be seeing Lord Anthony Gillingham and Lady Mary together on “Downton Abbey” season 4? While this is not entirely clear, it has been for many months now that he is going to be one of many possible suitors for Michelle Dockery’s character in the wake of the tragedy with Matthew that took place at the end of last season.

Well, based on the new photo of Tom Cullen in the role to the left, Gillingham looks to be both sophisticated and determined, and basically a hard guy to say no to at the end of the day. He and Mary will have known each other for many years thanks to family connections, but this serves one of the real opportunities to see each other in this light. Matthew’s death will be many months in the rear view mirror, so it is possible that she could at least be intrigued at the possibility of not being alone anymore … though she will very much need to be courted.

There are going to be more men pursuing Mary, but one of them will not be Allen Leech’s Tom Branson. The two have confirmed multiple times that there is no romance there, and Tom has plenty of other things on his plate, whether it be balancing the estate (where he will have some help courtesy of Mary) or possibly developing a romance of his own with a nanny for his daughter Sybil.

What do you think about Cullen’s look at this character, and are you pulling for him? We’re going to be profiling another one of Mary’s love interests tomorrow, so be sure to check out some more on that soon!
