‘NCIS’ season 11: Fans petition CBS to bring Cote de Pablo back
It’s not often that there are opportunities to do more then one “NCIS” story within a single day, but the passion of the fans rallied behind one of the actresses on this show can’t be ignored.
If you’re upset about something a network has done, there are really a few different things that you can do about it: You can send in letters or peanuts like “Jericho” viewers did years ago, picket in front of their building wearing felt goatees (thanks, “Community” fans!), or you can try to leverage the power of social media in order to make your voice heard. There’s no guarantee that any of these tactics will work, but it is at least an opportunity to find like-minded people, and let the network know how you feel.
This afternoon (at around 4:20 p.m. Eastern time), fans of “NCIS” managed to get #DearCBSWeWantCote as a trending topic. This is a pretty impressive achievement, given just how many people there are in the world, and only a select percentage of “NCIS” fans are huge Cote de Pablo fans. This alone deserves a pretty heavy round of applause for the people involved in making this happen, and the people at CBS will for sure see it.
But is this actually going to accomplish anything at all? In the short-term, it’s unlikely, given that scripts have already been written. Maybe, in the event that Cote’s Ziva leaves by some means other than being killed, it does encourage the two parties to work something out with the future of the show, but there are some factors to consider. For one, this decision to leave was ultimately made by Cote, according to reliable reports. Also, you have to believe that CBS probably makes no decision lightly for the most-watched drama on television. They spent all summer trying to think things through and work this out behind closed doors.
If nothing else, the trend has to make Cote (we’re sure she’ll hear about it, even if she’s not on Twitter) and even “NCIS” itself feel pretty good about themselves. Just don’t get too bent out of shape if nothing happens; after all, Kol fans for “The Vampire Diaries” have trended countless things in hopes of getting their character back on the show, but all they’ve really managed to accomplish is Julie Plec reminding them time and time again that it’s not going to happen.
For a more positive spin on the world of “NCIS,” take a look at some of the set photos that have been snapped thus far by the stars / producers.

Not on facebook Anna?!?! LIAR….I’ve seen your posts on facebook almost every day….you and seleya (or Vicky) are the only ones (ok, maybe a couple more) who don’t give a damn about Cote de Pablo. The rest of the posts, are from people who day by day express their disappointment about her not coming back.

excuses, excuses, excuses. What is the truth about Cotes leaving, was it personal or money, if Cote was sacked for wanting equal pay then the company must look at what she has brought to the show if they agree that her role as Ziva David has added or improved the shows ratings then that must be taken into account. For eight years she has given everything to the show only to be stabbed in the back by penny pinchers and misers Bah humbug

try for 8 years she’s made MILLIONS off that show…stabbed in the back? hardly

So basically at the most 10,000 bratty fans out of 20 million viewers sign a paper – saying yes – give the arrogant Cote, the money she wants although its completely not fair to the other actors??? sounds like Ziva fans to me…who else can like such a shallow, degenerate character as the arrogant, bratty, lying, murderous ziva!

No. It was not only about the money. She only wanted to sign for 1 year at a certain salary and CBS said no we want you to sign for multiple seasons (2 or 3) at a lower price. Cote wanted more leisure time off as her role was demanding and she hurt herself as well doing stunts. CBS said no. She left.
annsan
July 25, 2013 @ 11:12 am
cdp did not do stunts this past season….every time her double is credited, she doesn’t do a stunt….
that ‘hurt herself’ story is a couple season’s old

I’m so sure they trended worldwide. I haven’t seen it. My social media people say 3800-5200 tweets a second with a hash tag are needed to trend worldwide. Cote doesn’t have that many fans.

Its creepy and over the top. Cote said she wants to spend time with family but this entitled brats feel their need to pressure her into staying with such over the top things as threats, hunger strikes, and the like.

For one, there is no official statement of hers that says that. Aside from that, please don’t throw out such rumors about us. The people who try to get her back on contract are not lunatics, and we know better than to threaten anyone.

read the french interview, sammy…
& it’s not rumors.. You called Hailey Murray the C word because you didn’t like what she said. you’re spear heading a ridiculous mail campaign. The girl who made the video is advocating picketing the set. Another was bragging bout calling the studio constantly shrieking bring cote back to the hapless people who answer the phone. then there’s the email campaign. Let’s add the tweets to the cast that were horrifically rude all because they were happy to be going back to work or because Brian had the audacity to use a phrase that Harmon has used to describe every single casting change to date. let’s see…what am I missing? oh yeah…tweets sent to MW involving his family. people on twitter who say all they do is cry for weeks on end and that they have to lie to friends and co-workers about why they look so bad.
The nasty is shocking and at the same time heartbreaking in who is being targeted here.

I see you still enjoy going through thousands of comments that must make your eyes bleed because you abhor the topic so much, just to find one line to incriminate someone. It’s really weird that you throw around words like “obsessed” and “scary” so easily.
To clarify for others, my tweets to Hailey Murray were direct and not sugar-coated, but did not contain a single swear word. These days, people are allowed to question blanket truths. The one tweet I sent to Brian merely asked if that phrasing was really necessary, which is a pretty valid question, I think. As for tweets to Michael involving his family – not one of my friends. The people involved in my oh-so-ridiculous campaign are invested, yes, but they’re not the insane little puppets you want to paint them as.
As for your neverending argument that we should calm down and that the fans not into Cote are the only ones who approach this topic calmly – uhm, yeah. That’s kind of Logic 101… if it were true. I have yet to see reason from the people running to every platform to spew hate and “Thank god she’s gone!” messages just to leave the impression that everyone hates Cote. And now your lot is trying to get us arrested for sending paperclips in our letters, because they’re a clear threat to cast and crew? Brb, laughing.
…
Actually, no, that concludes this discussion for me.
annsan
July 25, 2013 @ 7:43 pm
Saw your post where you called her the C word, Sammie…also so the vicious way you kept going after Hailey & how you gloated about it afterwards. They weren’t direct – you questioned and then ridiculed her tie to the show. I’d laugh & shake my head if I thought you didn’t have a clue about her tie to the show but you obviously do.
Beyond that, the ones who are happy she’s gone still have the CLASS to wish her well – elsewhere. Her fans are going to be far more detrimental to her future than the ones that believe she can’t act ever will be.
& it’s not us trying to get you arrested Sammy….you’re doing that all by yourself with the stalking and sending threatening items in the mail – post office pretty much frowns on that. & oh, going after Julie Chen, as was suggested, is most likely not one of the brighter ideas to come out of your group.

Weird – I switch from US and Worldwide trends all the time and have been on Twitter a lot the last two days and have never seen any ncis-related trends showing. Are you sure it’s not on Tailored Trends for these fans? I do not use tailored trends.
And it’s not always about money. Sometimes there are things that are more important than money – particularly for someone like her who had made a ton of cash and has years of residuals that I’m sure she’ll get from all the repeated airings. But she maybe wants a family? Or to work on other projects – like theater or singing? At some point you can only do so much and you have to make a choice.
Maybe her fans should respect her decision. She may want to just do something new. Everyone has felt that itch in their life at some point or another and she’s in a position to be able to do it if she wants to.

She has to stay in NCIS, it won’t be the same without her… It’s like Criminal Minds without Morgan or someone like he…. If you know very well the details of why she is leaving the tv show and it’s because she needs to leave it, i could understand it… Also i don’t want, if she leaves, that they put another woman in her place, they have to put a man….Isn’t it strange that they usually kill the women ?? xD

I understand that the only “choice” that Cote made in this matter is that she was willing to sign back with CBS for one more season, which would have enabled her story to be fully developed and closed, properly. However, I understand that CBS refused to allow her back for any less than 2 years. CBS-NCIS is extremely unwise if this is true, and they let their best actress get away. They are about to learn how many people will walk with Cote… straight to ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D.

Pointing out that she’s not the greatest thing since sliced bread is not being offensive. It’s called offering a counter opinion to all the tiva & mote shippers like yourself who have been spewing & wailing everywhere instead of being a supportive fan of the actress y’all claim to love

In case you didn’t know, most of the fans who sign these petitions completely respect cote’s decision although we would rather it wasn’t that. The petitions and letters are to show that we still enjoy Ziva’s presence on the show unlike some of the more vocal fans who are against all Ziva or Tiva centric episodes. Considering there has been no official press release from Cote de Pablo or CBS we should all stop speculating the reasons behind her departure. No one has said she is the “greatest thing since sliced bread” but some of us genuinely enjoy and appreciate Cote’s acting and what it has brought for NCIS. If you don’t think that her acting has done anything for NCIS you should know that the few Ziva-centric episodes that appeared in season 10 have broken records for the highest number of viewers since the beginning of the show and the show beat out Sunday night football in the United States for viewers. A huge accomplishment. Clearly they are doing something right with Cote de Pablo.
Personally I feel there is an sort of “contract” between an actor and the shows viewers because technically we allow them to have a job. I feel Cote or CBS should at least give a press release as to why she left or at least saying it was her decision to leave and that the fans making these petitions should stop as it is doing more harm than good but until they make the demands that the fans stop it is perfectly within our rights to make a petition asking her to at least reconsider if not at least she knows we care about her 8 years of effort on the show.
I apologize if this is hard to understand because I am on my phone and its extremely difficult to go back and edit any mistakes. Thank you
