‘American Idol’ notes: Adam Lambert, Angie Miller, Hollie Cavanagh, Kelly Clarkson

American IdolWe’ve got quite a few “American Idol”-related stories to share today, but we’re going to start here with the first major announcement from the world of Adam Lambert following the news that he and his label RCA are parting ways over a disagreement over the direction of his music.

It was announced this week that Adam will be performing with Queen at the annual iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Friday, September 20, joining a pretty epic lineup that also includes the likes of Katy Perry, The Wanted, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Elton John, and Muse. While none of these great acts are really getting a full set to show off everything that they can do, this is almost like a greatest hits platter of almost every major star in music today.

Hollie’s new single – For all of you Holliepops out there, this has to be great news: The announcement that Hollie Cavanagh has just released her first original single onto iTunes! The song’s called “Outer Limit,” and you can pick it up here. We’ve heard the full song a few times now, and it almost reminds us a little bit of Sarah Bareilles and Kylie Minogue with a little more of a subtle backing track. If you’re a Hollie fan, it’s definitely worth checking out.

Kelly Clarkson’s freebie – While you’re at iTunes, go ahead and pick up her “Who Do You Think You Are?” episode on TLC. It’s a free download as a way to promote the show, and you get to see Kelly explore her past.

Angie Miller news – Finally, stay on the lookout for Angie’s new song “Put It On Me.” She announced the track recently on her Twitter, and she will preview it in the next few days. This is the follow-up to “You Set Me Free,” which she released as a single after the show itself.
