James Franco subject of next Comedy Central Roast
For this year’s Comedy Central Roast, the network has decided to skew a little bit younger than Charlie Sheen and Roseanne Barr; specifically, they’ve decided to go with a guy who has made a name for himself on being the aloof, enigmatic hipster-actor of our generation: James Franco. We expect Oscar-hosting jokes aplenty, along with brief “reviews” (if you can call them that) of all of the terrible movies that he has starred in over the years.
But is Franco really the right choice? We have to say yes in part thanks to some of the celebrities he could bring in with him. We’d personally love to see the likes of Seth Rogen, Judd Apatow, Mila Kunis, or Jason Segel ripping this guy a new one, and we’re sure that at least one or two people from the Apatow film crowd will be there. We also expect some of the familiar Comedy Central players, from Anthony Jeselnik to Amy Schumer and of course the Roastmaster General in Jeff Ross. The past couple of roasts have felt awkward without Lisa Lampanelli on there, so we’ll be pulling for her to return.
The full lineup of comedians / stars will likely be revealed in the weeks ahead, as all we know right now is that the roast is going to tape next month in Los Angeles, and will air on Labor Day (which to us is the perfect way to spend a day after barbecuing some tasty food outside on the grill).
What do you think about Franco serving as the subject for the roast this year? If you want to check out some more scoop from the world of Comedy Central, just be sure to head on over to the link here.
