‘America’s Got Talent’ review: Meet 212 Green, Captain Explosion, Chloe Channell

America's Got TalentTonight’s “America’s Got Talent” had quite a bit of the crazy, but it also had a few acts that you’re going to remember. Fancy that! We had a few great singers, a guy literally blowing himself up, and some people who used a large man as a musical instrument. Only this show, right?

Check out some of our quick-takes on all of the performers in our full review below and as always, we want to hear who some of your favorites are with a comment in the box below!

Olivia Rox – A great singer, but we can’t sit here and pretend that her cover of Justin Bieber’s “As long as You Love Me” was revolutionary, given that Carly Rose Sonenclar did a very similar performance on “The X Factor” last year. (Heck, Bieber also has one.)

Tummy Talk – We almost feel bad for this obese man, as he was used as a human percussion instrument the entire act.

sensEtion – We’ve said it a few times now that we are by and large over these black-light acts on the show, but at least this group did something slightly different by using a light show to make things more dramatic. It was a very Las Vegas sort of performance, even though the dancing could be better.

Yashia & Daniela – Daniela is a little too much Sophia Grace & Rosie 2.0 to us; she’s got a mountain of energy, but is still trying to figure out how in the world to channel it. These dancers will go to the semifinals, and lose out there. That’s what always happens to kid dancers.

Jimmy Rose – Given that we thought everyone would be talking about Jimmy for a while, we wrote a separate article about him a little earlier in the night. Check it out here.

Captain Explosion – So basically, this guy’s talent is sitting inside of a box and blowing himself up? We don’t really know how this is a talent so much as it just is a crazy man in a box. Strangely, he actually didn’t get through, which is sad for those of you out there who like variety on this show.

Chloe Channell – This is the part of the singing portion of this show that annoys us; she’s a decent enough singer, but we’d prefer to see someone move on like Captain Explosion, since he at least is doing something we haven’t seen a billion times already on other shows.

Megan Amigo – When she came out with her bizarre hippie attitude, and claims that Howard Stern had a “good heart,” we were just hoping that she was a little bit more than just a joke. Luckily, she was pretty good at what she does in the belly-dancing / contortionist department. So yeah … another variety act that was passed over for singers.

212 Green – A super-cool group that actually could (wait for it!) make quite a bit of green in the future. They have everything that you would hope for in a group on this show, whether it be the chemistry, the unique twist on a song (“Rumour Has It”), or the fact that they all seem likable and as if they have worked at this for quite a long time.

Al Harris – This was a complete train wreck to end the show, but we kind of loved the commitment that this guy brought. He was basically everyone’s annoying uncle who tells bad jokes, but we’re kind of glad for some reason that he and his wacky props got some airtime, even if he is not coming on the show in the future.

Who was your favorite on the show tonight?  Leave us a comment and tell us who stood out in your mind as a potential winner.
