‘Glee’ season 5 notes: Naya Rivera, Darren Criss, Kevin McHale
For this edition of “Glee” season 5 notes, we have a few assorted comments from around the web when it comes to all of the hit Fox series’ stars. Not only do we have some more insight into Naya Rivera courtesy of someone who truly seems to care for her quite a bit, but we also have Darren Criss talking about why he loves playing Blaine, and Kevin McHale getting an opportunity to celebrate his birthday in a way in which he definitely loves.
Naya – Let’s start with what seems to be proof that the actress behind Santana may be one of the best girlfriends out there, at least according to wrapper Big Sean. As he explained in a chat with MTV News recently, she put quite a bit of effort recently into making sure she could cheer him up, just by doing something that brought back some significant memories of his past:
“Let me tell you a story about her. Let me tell you a story about Naya Rivera … My grandma used to make me birthday cakes every year, on my birthday, once a year. My favorite pound cake, grandma’s recipe. She had a stroke ten years ago and couldn’t make it anymore, but Naya hit my mom up and got the recipe. Couple parts of the recipe were missing; she filled them in, made this cake from scratch for me. [She] surprised me with it one day, man, when I wasn’t feeling too good. Just stuff like that, showing she really cares.”
Darren – As you may or may not know, Darren was briefly in France recently to promote an upcoming movie that he filmed recently in Kristen Wiig. While the interview was in French, the following translation shows Darren explaining all the ways in which he is different from his character in Blaine:
“I love playing the role of Blaine on Glee because I like, as an actor, to play someone completely different. Some people don’t agree, but I feel totally different from Blaine, who is an attention whore who loves fabulous things.”
Kevin – Finally, did you hear the news that Kevin recently rang in his 25th birthday with Vanessa Lengies? No, the two were not alone (as they went down to Cancun with a group of friends), but they were spotted getting some much-needed relaxation done before returning to work. Filming on “Glee” season 5 starts up next month, with the premiere date coming in mid-September. It is unclear if Lengies will return, thanks to her new job on the show “Mixology.”
