‘The Client List’ season 3 renewal: Jennifer Love Hewitt, producers talking story

Jennifer Love HewittSo are you curious why the delay for a season 3 renewal for “The Client List” is taking so long? Well, we now have an answer for you, and it appears that at the very center of all this drama is the question as to how Jennifer Love Hewitt’s real-life pregnancy is placed into the series.

According to Deadline, the plan at the moment seems to be to write the pregnancy with Hewitt’s Riley into the story, but all parties involved seem to be disputing how it should be handled in terms of who the baby’s father on the show should be. From Hewitt’s camp, the desire seems to be to have the father be none other than her real-life fiancee and father of her unborn child in Brian Hallisay.

However, the showrunner for the Lifetime drama is reportedly hoping to have Colin Egglesfield, who plays Evan on the show, step into this role. In case you are wondering why Hewitt has a stake in a major creative decision, it is because she has an executive producer credit on the series.

Speaking to the site, a rep for the actress had the following to say:

“There are many story lines we are exploring … So any suggestion that we are not doing our best to develop a great season is simply not accurate.”

We know that Hewitt is getting a lot of grief across the internet tonight, but we understand why she would want her real-life fiance to play the father of her child on the show. However, this really just speaks to the problem that can exist when a star also holds an executive producer credit; this is not the first show to experience such a problem, and nor will it be the last.

What’s your take on this story, and do you hope that a season 3 happens? If you want to read our full review for “The Client List’s” season 2 finale, you can do so over here.
