‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 notes: All about Kit Harrington, the Night’s Watch, and ale
Now that we are firmly rooted in what we would refer to as the lengthy “Game of Thrones” hiatus, this calls for the beginning of the “Game of Thrones” notes to really touch on some assorted highlights from around the world of the show. Some will be funny, some informative, and some completely random. We don’t really want to dive any further down the rabbit hole of speculating over the books, mostly because that gets to a point where you just ruin everything for people who haven’t read them and we’d wanna hulk smash someone if they did that to us. Expect to see plenty more of these in the months ahead.
So let’s start off here with a video that should really satisfy the inevitable need that every person has to splice up Night’s Watch scenes with cheesy ’80s music. This “training video” featuring Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow has gone somewhat viral over the past few days, and it largely to us proves that people really can make a video of just about anything and get popular.
Beverage news? – Do you remember the release of the Iron Throne Blonde Ale earlier this year? Well, it appears as though there will be something else for you to drink later this year if you find yourself in the mood for something a little darker. According to Zap2It, Take the Black Stout is the latest show-inspired drink from Brewery Ommegang, and it will be released later this fall. Like the training video above, this drink was apparently inspired by Jon Snow and the Night’s Watch.
Yes, you could look at this as a way for “Game of Thrones” to just make money off of the consumer, but at least HBO and their partners do seem to be putting some effort into this. The fake Tru Blood released by HBO garnered plenty of attention, and these two shows combined (and to a lesser extent “Girls”) have turned into merchandising machines.
