‘American Idol’ season 13: Is a makeover coming post-Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj?
Things are going to be changing for “American Idol” in the coming months, and this could even mean that we are due for something even as drastic as a major change to something that has been a constant on the show literally since the very beginning: The classic logo.
While nothing here is set in stone by any means, The Idol Pad (well known as a pretty reliable source on such things) is claiming that Fox and the production company are looking at giving the show a new logo to go along with what will hopefully be a super-fresh coat of paint for the show. After all, almost everyone familiar with the show at this point is gone. Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj, and Mariah Carey are all gone as judges, and some believe Keith Urban will eventually join them. Meanwhile, executive producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick are also said to be packing their bags, and Fox’s own reality head Mike Darnell has stepped down. This really leaves Ryan Seacrest as the last for-sure person still associated with the day-to-day operations of the show… at least we have him, could you imagine “American Idol” without him as the host?
While a new logo and a new style would be nice, the biggest challenges the show still faces come in trying to find a way to make this show appealing again to the masses. This includes getting current songs cleared more often, finding judges with chemistry rather than big names that like to fight, and not coming across so manipulative in the edit as though you want the men to fail just to ensure a female winner who didn’t really need editing trickery and hype in the first place.
Thankfully, the show is already taking some steps at repairing itself for the long haul. If you haven’t read about the new man who has been hired to oversee the show, you can do so over at the link here.
