NBC’s ‘The Voice’: Cassadee Pope’s ‘Wasting All These Tears’ finds iTunes success
Do we finally have the first successful song from a former contestant on “The Voice”? It certainly seems that way, at least based on some of the sales that are coming in for Cassadee Pope’s “Wasting All These Tears” on iTunes following the show.
If you recall, she was a major success on the iTunes charts throughout her run on the show, with her cover of “Over You” being the most-successful digital track in the show’s history. However, Pope’s song is giving it a run for its money. The song is still #3 as of this writing, and it has been all over the top 5 since her performance first happened on the show. This easily beats out anything that the other former contestants on the show have mustered, including past contestants Jermaine Paul and Javier Colon. (The closest is probably Vicci Martinez with “Come Along.”)
But will Pope actually turn this into a radio hit? No alum from “The Voice” has figured out this part of the equation just yet, but she does at least have the benefit of being at the CMT Music Awards tonight, and has a good list of friends within the music world dating back to her “Hey Monday” days. The only thing that could make things difficult for her is that country radio is not exactly the easiest format for female artists to crack; unless your name is Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, or Taylor Swift these days, it seems tough to get a whole lot of attention.
Have you picked up this song, and do you think that “Wasting All These Tears” is going to be the first original song following the show to find huge success? If you want to read our full review from Tuesday night’s episode, be sure to head on over to the link here.
