‘The Originals’ spoilers: Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Claire Holt shoot cast photos
It’s a rite of passage for any new series in the spring. The opportunity to shoot some of the promotional photos that will follow your show on sites like this one for months and years to come. These pictures often cheesy, mostly because it features friends and enemies standing together in a way that they never would, but you need them to in order to get the entire cast in an image. Plus, there’s always one actor that tries a little too hard to be serious.
Well, we have it on good authority that the cast of “The Originals” just had an opportunity to do so this week! Typically, many new series do this a little earlier on in the process, often so that they have an official photo or two of the cast to show off at the upfronts. However, this series took a little bit of a different road thanks to it being a spin-off of “The Vampire Diaries”: It’s “pilot” has already aired, and the only images that we have to share are the ones from this April installment.
Many of your favorite series regulars were present for the big occasion, including of course the actors behind the Originals themselves in Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, and Claire Holt. Some of the new actors to the franchise, including Charles Michael Davis, also stopped by.
As for when these photos could hit the press, there’s no firm timetable on it yet. While it’s always nice to get buzz, we’re not sure if “The Originals” (which is airing on Tuesdays this fall) really needs to get on those photos right now. It may be better to wait until later in the summer, when you really need to start the promotional campaign in full force. This is also when most returning shows take new promotional photos. (Many CW series use the same photos for several years at a time to save money.)
