‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ review: Alexis Bellino’s tag-team match with God

Real Housewives of Orange CountyThere’s something sadistically entertaining with “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” almost as though you are watching the same goofy video of a cat falling off a windowsill that you want to watch time and time again. There’s something captivating about it, even though nothing ever changes at any point.

We don’t really want to get into the part of this that actually involves picking sides, mostly because we don’t have a personal favorite in this fight. It’s pretty clear that on one side at this point, you have a few women led by Heather Dubrow and Tamra Barney who don’t really have any interest at all in putting up with Alexis Bellino, whereas on the flip side Alexis continually talks about how she doesn’t have the energy in order to deal with them. However, this apparently doesn’t matter to her since she has God on her side.

If none of this matters to Alexis, why be on the show? Why not just go join the Real Housewives of God, since Lydia McLaughlin (who seems to be very religious) would likely join you? Lydia is the new kid on the block, which these days means that she probably the only one with a real sense of sanity still. She realized that both sides of this feud have points, and that they should try to find a way to really work this out. It feels almost like Alexis uses excuses as a crutch, while the other ladies all use each other.

Unfortunately, we just don’t see this happening, and we’re not quite sure that this show will have much of a happy ending until either Alexis leaves (which was rumored at one point) or some of the other women do. At a certain point, Bravo gets itself so mucked-up in drama that they forget that another key part of this show is fun, and we’re not really having just a ton of it right now.
