NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Sasha Allen looks to blow Shakira away
While NBC has not exactly released a plethora of video clips just yet for Monday night’s “The Voice,” it is the beginning of what is a key round in the competition: The knockouts. Two artists will face off against each other yet again, with only one advancing to the next round. However, the major twist that we have this time around is that they go one at a time, and there is much less of a collaborative approach.
We wish that we ultimately had a little bit more to share from this round in the competition, but unfortunately all we have for the time being is the official word (via a People Magazine clip) is that Sasha Allen is going to be performing the Etta James hit “At Last.” Of course, by “performing” we mean “completely dominating to the point where no one else has a chance.”
Before the battle rounds even began, we had labeled Sasha as one of the favorites to watch out for. However, Adam Levine made a pretty stunning decision earlier this season in not picking her during this stage, which left her open to be saved by Shakira. If we had to say right now, this could be another Amanda Brown sort of situation. Sasha clearly came into this performance with something to prove to Adam, and she did that in hitting big note after big note.
Over the course of this week, expect to see the lineups completely set for what will be an intense start to the live shows, where the coaches will once again try to whittle down their teams. This round was made more exciting last year thanks to the new rules given to the voting, and it will hopefully remain the same here.
