MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Glee’ alum talks upcoming arc

While we’ve already learned quite a bit about what is coming up for Jenna Hamilton on “Awkward” season 3, there are still some significant questions remaining … including just how big of a role a new character is going to have in the life of Ashley Rickards’ character.

So who is this mystery man? His name is Colin, and he is played by none other than Nolan Funk, who most recently played the Warbler Hunter on a few episodes of “Glee” season. He’s a guy who will spend a little bit of a time with Jenna in her creative writing class … and it’s also possible that we are going to see some sparks fly between the two.

According to what Funk told Zap2It, it also appears that this guy could not be more different from Jenna’s current squeeze Matty if he tried:

“He’s a very passionate writer … In this creative writing class. He comes from a little bit of money, but he isn’t really pretentious, he just has a lot of life experience. He’s a little bit adventurous, a little dangerous. I would say this character is definitely the absolute contrast to Matty’s character.”

Of course, it’s probably going to be a little bit of time before this Jenna / Colin storyline really builds into something big. With “Awkward” getting an extended amount of time to run this season, there’s not going to be a need to rush any story. Plus, we’ll need the time to see the tension between Matty and Jenna build, and also what the dynamic with this new character is like.
