‘The Amazing Race 22’ rankings: Are there any standouts from this strange season?

The Amazing RaceIn 22 seasons of watching “The Amazing Race,” we’re not quite sure that we have seen so much moments that feel like a blooper real as we have this year. Thanks to some strange and surprising eliminations, we’re really left with a crew of racers who by and large would already be eliminated on other seasons. The good news? They’re all mostly entertaining. The bad news? There’s not a lot of competition here.

It’s been a little while since we’ve done a rankings piece (mostly because the show hasn’t been on), so for those new to the site, we base these primarily on team performance while also considering edit, alliances, and whether a team is likely to be screwed over by the others.

6. Chuck & Wynona – These two just aren’t very fast, and while they have been lucky to make it this far, that luck is going to be running out pretty fast. They’re still in a hole when it comes to roadblocks, and Wynona being forced to tackle everything doesn’t bode well for when there is something physical ahead.

5.  Mona & Beth – It’s easy to forget that these two, despite having a cool hobby in playing roller derby, are even in the race. They receive little to no screen time, and save for last week we hadn’t seen a single shred of conflict involving them. No team this invisible has ever won the season, so it’s best to just get them out of the way early.

4. Max & Katie – These two should be smoking this competition, and they still could. Their biggest problem at the moment is just that they are too busy fighting to pay attention much of the time, and they also are a little impulsive and quick-tempered. We still believe that if they settle down and keep their eyes on the prize, they could be the team to beat.

3. Meghan & Joey – There is still a strange part of us that sees this team at this year’s Beekman Boys: they’ve never been particularly strong, but they’ve received a pretty good underdog edit and when they mess up, they bounce back from it without too much conflict. Keep an eye on them, and don’t be surprised if they are in the final three.

2. Caroline & Jennifer – For a team that has cried multiple times to be this high on the list, you know that the competition for the season cannot be particularly fantastic. The country singers are in good shape, and they don’t fight with each other. These two things alone could be enough to get them to the promised land.

1. Bates & Anthony – Meanwhile, we have a top team for the time being that proclaimed with pride last week that they usually just follow people around. Not great, right? It’s probably going to come down to concentration for these guys, and if they are able to focus and complete the tasks properly, they will win the million-dollar prize.

Who are you rooting for to win “The Amazing Race 22”? If you haven’t yet watched a preview for Sunday night’s new episode, you can do so over at the link here.
