‘Game of Thrones’ season 3: When Jaime Lannister met George Clooney
When it comes to “Game of Thrones,” there are not many opportunities that we have here in America to get to know some of the stars. Many of them live overseas, are private away from the show, or simply do not have many opportunities at all to do publicity tours.
Thankfully, some of that changed this week courtesy of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. The actor, best known for his role as Jaime Lannister, appeared on “Conan” this week in an effort to promote his new role in the movie “Oblivion” (which was apparently so secretive that he could not even really say anything about it). While there was some discussion of the “Game of Thrones” season 3 filming process in the interview, it mostly came via how often the actor basically had to cake himself in mud while shooting some of his scenes with Brienne in the outskirts of Belfast, Northern Ireland (which is also so rainy that it puts London to shame).
Perhaps the most entertaining part of this entire interview came with a pretty random discussion of one of the few awards shows that Coster-Waldau had a chance to attend, where the AFI were recognizing “Game of Thrones” as one of the ten best on TV. We don’t want to spoil everything for you to lose some of the entertainment value of the clip below, but let’s just say that it ends with the actor getting the opportunity to meet George Clooney in one of the most awkward ways imaginable.
After watching this clip, do you like Nikolaj more than ever, and what do you want to see transpire for his character over the course of “Game of Thrones” season 3?
