NBC’s ‘Community’ season 4, episode 9 preview: A bizzare puppet meeting
As you may know by now if you are a diehard “Community” fan, we are going to see some pretty major events take place … and it involves puppets. Anytime we see the Greendale 7 represented by anything other than the actual episodes, it’s a reason to be excited. The only question we still have at the moment, though, is if there is any sort of context at all to these costumes and puppets. All we know for the time being is that these are some people who love to play a little bit of dress-up, and we have to hope that there is something else that comes along with it beyond just some silliness.
What makes the video alone rather interesting is that when it comes to tone, it does actually feel very much like something that we would see in an old-school puppet production like “The Muppet Movie”: the group meets some sort of creepy guy outdoors, and he makes a series of increasingly creepy observations. Then, it appears like he is going to break into song … just before the clip comes to an end. Sad, no?
“Community” is one of those shows right now that is very much on the cusp of getting canceled, and the network is going to need these sort of creative episodes in order to build up hype again about a series that has lost a big chunk of its 18-49 audience since the premiere earlier this year. Plus, it now has the added challenge of airing against the titan otherwise known as “The Big Bang Theory.”
