‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: A preview of what’s next for Jaime, Brienne

While you may not have seen either of them during the “Game of Thrones” season 3 premiere last week, do not fret: there is going to be plenty of Jaime Lannister and Brienne during Sunday night’s new episode, as we get the opportunity to see the direct continuation of what happened at the end of last year. These two characters started to form both a unique and bizarre bond in that time, and based on what we are hearing now, that is really only going to continue from here.

Speaking to a group of reporters recently about the storyline ahead, and the dynamic between Jaime and the loyal soldier, actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau had the following to say:

“I do think there is a little inkling of that in the last episode of season two when she suddenly shows her skills as a solider — and that she has a moral compass … I think he deep down recognizes, and I don’t think he realizes it, that there’s something about her that he uniquely identifies with.”

Meanwhile, Gwendoline Christie says that while the two characters are going to have an interesting back-and-forth, Brienne’s sense of duty is going to keep her very devoted for the time being to carrying out the mission laid before her by Catelyn Stark, even she has not spent nearly as much time with her as of late as she has with the Kingslayer:

“Brienne has always been quite a solitary figure. Away from her, she’s remaining faithful by carrying on her mission as best she can… that determination she shows to exercise over the slippery Jaime Lannister, who she could kill because he’s shackled and antagonizing her. She’s carrying on the respect she has for that woman.”
