While we’re sure that there are some people out there who would have been interested in seeing more Dwight Shrute on “The Farm” had the backdoor pilot of “The Office” actually been picked up to series, one of the silver linings in it not being ordered is that the flagship show can now actually set up a pretty proper endgame for Rainn Wilson’s character and Angela, his on-again, off-again love interest and hookup buddy over the years.
Luckily, the twentieth episode of the season appears to revolve heavily around both of these familiar faces. According to a report from SpoilerTV, the title for the half-hour here is “Paper Airplane,” and the synopsis alone suggests that it could actually be centered by and large on these two characters:
“Dwight and Angela compete in a paper airplane contest; Andy prepares for an acting role; Jim and Pam use new skills.”
Andy trying to be an actor seems to be in part a side effect of his recent decision to go into show business, which is why we are going to be seeing a guest appearance from Roseanne Barr on the next new episode. We don’t really figure that Ed Helms’ character has much of a chance of that working, but won’t it be entertaining to watch?
In going back to Dwight and Angela, though, all you need to ask yourself is this: when is a paper airplane contestant really a paper airplane contest? you have to figure that there is going to be far more to this story than initially meets the ye.
Do you think we’ll see Dwight and Angela together by the time of the finale? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and you can read some more “The Office” season 9 scoop by heading on over to the link here.
