‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 6 finale spoilers: All about the small moments

When “The Big Bang Theory” airs its season 6 finale this coming May, don’t expect there to be a great deal of time devoted to the sort of jaw-droppers you may have come to expect from what has become over time a time of year stuffed with them. Rather, this sitcom is seemingly going for something that is rather simple, but also very funny.

Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, executive producer Bill Prady proclaimed this episode to be largely a “character story.” Meanwhile, fellow EP Chuck Lorre added the following:

“[It’s a] small story that’s meaningful to the characters and to us as writers on the show.”

So what might we ultimately be seeing here? There are a number of theories, from a major step for Sheldon and Amy to something big in Raj’s personal life to Howard and Bernadette possibly thinking about the future. More than anything else, we expect this episode to be indicative of some of the growth that these characters have made over the years. While they are in many ways still the same beloved band of geeks that we came to know on the show so many years ago, they are also more adult and have to consider what they want for the rest of their lives. Just look at Howard for one example of this, as he has come to move out of his home with his mother and in with Bernadette; it hasn’t changed his life drastically, but it is a step to show that he is willing to move forward.
