‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: Who’s returning to be Barney’s nemesis?

Just in case the idea of Barney marrying Robin at the end of “How I Met Your Mother” season 8 was not legendary enough for you, know this: not only will there be laser tag coming up in the near future, but it will involve one of his future in-laws.

According to a new report from E! News, it will be none other than Ray Wise who turns up again later this season as Robin’s father, who has over the years relaxed a little and it now content with his daughter marrying a man obsessed with suits and playing a game typically reserved for children. Maybe these two will use this as a former of father / son bonding, which would be nice for Barney considering that he didn’t really grow up with a man in his life.

In speaking of fathers, will we see John Lithgow return at some point before the end of the season? Even though we know that these two do not have the greatest relationship ever, they did leave on okay terms when we last saw the character. Unless there is some sort of explanation given, it would be strange for Barney to have a wedding and never even acknowledge the character, and you can also throw in there his half-siblings, including the one in Carly played by Ashley Benson.

Hopefully, we’ll have some more answers to these mysteries as we near the end of the season, though we also have a feeling we will not get an answer to the pesky “who is the mother?” question still for some time.
