Stephen Colbert professes love for ‘The Bachelor,’ Sean Lowe’s staring contests

Stephen ColbertJust in case you wanted even more evidence that “The Bachelor” has firmly found its way into pop culture this year, even one of the most popular fake news hosts in America is talking about it: Stephen Colbert. After all, the founder of Colbert Nation made a pretty good point on Thursday night’s edition of the show: would you rather talk about the sequester, or about Sean Lowe’s incredibly dramatic final few weeks?

Well, Stephen answered that question for us by getting a glass of wine, showing some clips of Sean (including of course one that did not include a shirt), and talking about how the ABC show literally aired a full minute of programming during the final three rose ceremony that was Sean looking at AshLee Frazier and Catherine Giudici, with both of them looking right back at them.

Being the quick-witted satirist that he is, Colbert moved on quickly passed the obvious “almost all ‘Bachelor’ relationships fail” joke in order to hilariously bring out two educators in order to try and pick who would be his guest a little later in the night. Thus began a minute-long staring contest that went into commercial break, and he did not even announce the winner until a good twenty seconds after the show returned. Could Sean take offense at this? Sure, if he was overly sensitive to this sort of thing, but much of his likability has been tied to not only his ability to take a joke, but also his ability to fire back with some humor of his own.

So long as you live within the United States (sorry Canadians and everyone else), you can check out the video below. Meanwhile, if you are as obsessed with “The Bachelor” as Stephen is pretending to be, you can also see where we’ve ranked the final two contestants of the season right here.
