‘All-Star Celebrity Apprentice’: Bret Michaels tries to explain picking Omarosa
Has the shock worn off on Donald Trump firing Bret Michaels yet? Sunday night’s premiere of “All-Star Celebrity Apprentice” was a bizarre one, and it culminated with the Donald seemingly sending home the only former champion in the competition, seemingly because he never imagined himself allowing the same person to win twice.
Did Bret make some mistakes still? Sure. He did not raise an enormous amount of money, and in addition to that he made the very dubious decision of picking Omarosa to be the very first person on his team, only to later have her thrown him under the bus for seemingly exaggerating just how much money he raised for charity.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter after the fact, Michaels explained that his real thinking in picking her was that she could channel her negative energy to go after the other team; as it turns out, however, this did not work as well as he had hoped:
“She is known as evil incarnate on TV … I figured, if I embraced it and unleashed her on the other team, we would win this hands down until we had to fight each other. That grenade blew up in my hand.”
The saddest part about Bret leaving the competition right now is that the show is devoid of someone who brought great creatively and entertainment to the show the last time around, and his victory over Holly Robinson Peete was even one of the most inspiring reality TV moments in recent memory considering that he had suffered a near-fatal brain hemorrhage just a matter of weeks before the finale aired live.
