‘King of the Nerds’ renewed by TBS – Nerds everywhere rejoice!

King of the NerdsEver since “Beauty and the Geek” went of the air in 2008 there hasn’t been another reality competition that puts nerds and geeks in the spotlight quite like that series did, so when TBS announced it’s newest reality show called “King of the Nerds” we were excited, but also a little skeptical if the show would really be able to fill the gap left behind from “Beauty and the Geek”.

As it turns out, “King of the Nerds” is a lot of fun and they were able to put together a pretty good cast of geeks that were likeable for the most part. With nerds and geeks being totally chic right now thanks to shows like “The Big Bang Theory” and “Community”, “The King of The Nerds” stood a good chance for having great success and being renewed for 2014.

The ratings for “King of the Nerds” has been pretty steady at 2.1 million verniers (1.3 of them being in the coveted 18 – 49 demographic), so it’s really no surprise that the show has been renewed by TBS for another 8 episodes, but unfortunately there’s going to be quite a long wait for the show to come back.  We won’t have a chance to see season 2 of “King of the Nerds” until 2014, but that gives geeks everywhere plenty of time to perfect their audition tapes for the show. It looks like hosts (and Rrevenge of the Nerds” stars) Craig Armstrong and Robert Carradine will be back as hosts for season 2 as well.

The next new episode of “King of the Nerds” airs on Thursday, February 28th at 10 p.m. on TBS and the season finale will be airing on Thursday, March 7th where we will find out who will be crowned “King of the Nerds”.  If you are looking for more “King of the Nerds” news, then be sure to check out our rankings and see who we think is going to win it all.
