‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4: The future for Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley
It has already been made pretty apparent on “The Vampire Diaries” season 4 just what is coming up for one of the characters in Elena, as Damon instructed her at the end of Thursday night’s new episode to flick off the humanity switch. This is going to lead to a vampire who is still honest in the same way that Elena always was, but at the same time ruthless and cold compared to the girl who lost everyone from Jenna to Alaric to even Jeremy.
So what happens now for some of the other characters? Two of the biggest question marks remaining are the Salvatore brothers, who have helped Elena for so long try to deal with all of the threats in Mystic Falls. (Oh, and they both also have slept with her on occasion.) Damon and Stefan have been at odds for some time, but executive producer Julie Plec tells Entertainment Weekly that this could change soon:
“If anything, the next chapter of this brings Stefan and Damon weirdly closer together because as they struggle to try to figure out what to do with this girl that they don’t recognize any more, they start to realize how much their relationship has been impacted by their shared love for her. And having kind of watched her lose her brother and them have that feeling of, ‘Oh my gosh. As much as I fight with my brother that I have, if I lost him, I’d have nothing,’ it has a nice healing effect on these two over the next chapter.”
Suffice it to say that neither Ian Somerhalder nor Paul Wesley’s character is going to be free from Elena as a love interest yet; after all, she does strip down in front of both of them in the first promo for the upcoming March 14 episode.

Both brothers need some time away from Elena. She brings out the snore in both of them!! Damon was was way more fun and sexy before he got attached to Elena …. while Stefan and Elena have incredible chemistry, since she became a vampire, he has become a bore around her.. Lexi and Rebeka brought out the fun yet sweet side of Stefan… Let’s see that again! What about Jeremy?? Bring back his ghost!!

I agree with Peyton.elena is never going to end up with any of them.she loves both Damon &Steven.I like both too.

The people who talk about endgames and HEAs crack me up. Elena is never going to end up with anyone. This entire franchise is built on a love triangle and to settle the triangle is to admit that the franchise is over and no self respecting creative team is ever going to admit that their franchise is dead and gone and will never be revived. Especially a franchise that has very successful book series alongside the television show.
Just look at Buffy. The Whedonverse has been off the air for 9 years and even though there’s no book series, the official in-canon comics are *still* stringing the Spuffys and the Bangels along.
Now I much prefer Delena, but then Stelena represents innocent high school infatuation and I find that extremely boring. But I know the show will never provide me with a Delena ending so I’m going to settle fro all the little wonderful moments they give me along the way.

I’m a total Delena fan! I would like them to last a while longer before throwing Stefan back into the mix, he had her for 3 seasons, t’s Damon’s turn ! Especially while she’s a vampire. They have a good character match at the moment.

Delena is so boring. How are they unpredictable. Ruined two characters that I used to enjoy watching. Hopefully this will be the end of Delena and bring back an interesting Damon and an awesome Elena.

I totally agree with you Paulina..the love story between Stefan and Elena is why I fell in love with Vampire Diaries to begin with, and they do (Nina & Paul) have an awesome chemistry!

Here’s what I see and would like to happen. Stefan and Elena end up together. Damon finds a love interest that is bitchy but cool. I love the Stefan and Elena love story. I know there’s a real love story with Nina and Ian but the chemistry on screen between Nina and Paul is so strong. Endgame=Stelena!!
