‘Girls,’ ‘Enlightened’ season 2 episodes to air a day early due to Super Bowl
Good news, fans of HBO’s “Girls”: you do not have to wait as long as usual in order to find out of Marnie gets locked up in a room full of creepy televisions again.
Earlier this week, the network announced that the upcoming fourth episode of both “Girls” and “Enlightened’s” second seasons will be airing on Saturday night beginning at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. What’s the reason for this? It’s rather simple: everyone on the planet watches the Super Bowl, and the network obviously knows that putting the show on at that time will lead to decreased ratings (even though many people who can afford the network can probably also afford a DVR).
“Girls” and “Enlightened” still are in many ways the perfect counter-programming, so with that in mind, the shows are also going to be airing these same episodes in the familiar timeslot on Sunday night. Had they went ahead and aired in the same timeslot as always, they may have been one of the few shows actually bold enough to take this risk. Then again, we are pretty happy that they did not.
Just in case you have not seen the promo yet for the next adventure of Hannah Horvath, you can see it here; meanwhile, here is the official synopsis for Saturday’s episode courtesy of a network press release:
“Hannah hosts a dinner party; Marnie and Audrey square off; Shoshanna realizes that she has entered a new phase with Ray; Jessa meets Thomas-John’s parents.”
In case you are wondering, our weekly review will also be shifted to Saturday, as we will be largely preoccupied on Sunday enjoying our favorite part of the big game: the commercials. So long as they are fantastic, there are no losers here … right?
