2013 SAG Awards winners list: ‘Game of Thrones’ and more

SAG AwardsEven though the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards have yet to even begin, there was one award announced. With that in mind, we are starting up this winners’ list a little bit early, but be sure to keep checking back throughout the rest of the show in order to find out just who takes home all of the trophies from our favorite medium of TV. In addition to that, we’ll also have analysis as to whether or not the voters made the right choice.

Best Stunt Ensemble – “Game of Thrones.” The show actually ended up winning an award this year! This is the first major trophy the HBO series has taken home pertaining to any sort of acting since Peter Dinklage won the Golden Globe back in 2012, and we would have been happy here had the winner been either this show or another underrated gem in “Sons of Anarchy.”

Male Actor in a Comedy – Alec Baldwin, “30 Rock.” Why do the SAG people love Alec so much? The guy always wins this award, regardless of what his competition is.

Female Actor in a Comedy – Tina Fey. Surprisingly, we pegged this race pre-show as being predictable. Now, it’s turning out to be full of surprises. Thus far, the show is really giving “30 Rock” a proper send-off.

Ensemble Cast in a Comedy – “Modern Family.” This is how we predicted the show was going to go. We got very sick of hearing the theme song over the past several years, but the nominations for this category were pretty strange to begin with.

Female Actor in a Miniseries – Julianne Moore, “Game Change.” Yep, everyone saw this one coming.

Male Actor in a Miniseries – Kevin Costner, “Hatfields & McCoys.” Another predictable winner, which shows that perhaps the time of surprises on this show are already behind us.

Male Actor in a Drama Series – Bryan Cranston, “Breaking Bad.” What do you know? This show had some surprises left. Cranston beat out Damian Lewis in a surprise here.

Female Actor in a Drama Series – Claire Danes, “Homeland.” It’s a good thing that Maggie Smith did not win here, mostly since she continued her tradition of not showing up to American awards shows … but yes, Claire’s win was expected.

Ensemble Cast in a Drama Series – “Downton Abbey.” Okay, forget everything about the SAG Awards being predictable. This is by far the biggest surprise of the entire night, as no one expected to see the period drama take home anything … let alone against “Homeland.” Our vote would have been for “Breaking Bad,” but we thoroughly applaud the brave choice.

As we just stated, be sure to check back throughout the night for more winners from the show. If you want to check out some other scoop from the SAG Awards red carpet, you can do so over at the link here.

Meanwhile, there is more “Game of Thrones” scoop over here.
