‘American Idol’: Reaction on Lazaro Arbos, Schyler Dixon, Kez Ban, and more
Just as we promised yesterday, we are going to be looking at what some of the “American Idol” contestants are saying about their auditions the day after for the rest of the audition rounds, and we have a feeling that this is going to be a crop from Chicago that everyone remembers for some time. You had a returning favorite in Johnny Keyser, a wonderfully unique singer in Kez Ban, and the story that every is talking about: Lazaro Arbos, the young man with a stutter but also a sensational voice.
As you would expect, the response to Lazaro’s audition has been pretty overwhelming, and he admitted in a post on Twitter after the fact that it was pretty much impossible for him to say thank you to everyone who followed and sent him messages just within the span of a few hours, and he admitted that his life really will never be the same:
“It’s been fun but I’m finally going to bed :) goodnight world this has been the most amazing nights of my life :) thank you all again.”
As for some of the other contestants from the Chicago auditions, be sure to check out the list below. (The links are also to the artists’ Twitter accounts, for your convenience.)
Kez Ban – “I am working on a solo album and also a collaborative project!”
Johnny Keyser – “Getting cut last year was the beginning of my growth.. Sometimes you need a big fat NO to realize how badly you want a yes!!! #Idol”
Mackenzie Wasner – “Thank y’all all so much for the support!!!! I love each and every one of you!!!! #blessed ❤”
Griffin Peterson – “Feeling overly blessed by all the love I’ve been shown. Thank you, thank you.”
For those who didn’t catch it, season 11 alum Schyler Dixon was shown briefly during the auditions advancing to Hollywood. So why didn’t they show her more? We have a pair of theories for it:
1. In an effort to level the playing field, the show is giving her a tiny edit in the event she makes the live shows. Thanks to both her past appearances and her brother Colton, she already has an advantage.
2. If she doesn’t make it to the live shows, this is a way to not make her appearing into a big story.
