‘Supernatural’ season 8 spoilers: Are we tracking towards a season 9?
Sunday marks the end of TCA, and for The CW, this meant that it was getting a chance to stand alone in the spotlight prior to the Golden Globes.
Luckily, there was some good news handed down at the panel rather quickly when it came to the future of a show that has a pretty devoted fan following: “Supernatural.” While network president Mark Pedowitz proclaimed that there was no official word just yet on a season 9, he said that “there’s a good shot” that we will see more of the show, and he likes how season 8 is progressing creatively.
We can try to put some of Pedowitz’s comments in more realistic terms now: the only way in which “Supernatural” gets canceled this year is if “American Idol” (which returns Wednesday) and “Modern Family” combined eat it up and then spit out its remains. It’s just not going to happen. The show is consistently #3 on the network in terms of ratings in the 18-49 demographic, and the only challenge at all will be making sure you can schedule things out so that Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles will have a little bit of time each to spend with their families.
The future for “Supernatural” certainly seems to be much more promising than some other CW shows. Pedowitz said that no decision had been made on a “90210” season 6, and that he hopes to have “Beauty and the Beast” around for a long time given the improvement the show has made over the past few months.
In case you haven’t heard yet, “Supernatural” season 8 will return to TV on Wednesday night. Be sure to watch the sneak peek for the episode, and you can share your thoughts on this story below.

I hope there’s a season 9, but if not, we need to see John, Mary, Death, Joshua, Lucifer, Michael, and Adam at least once more each.

Considering “Supernatural” is the BEST show ON CW and jt just won TWO PCA’s, I would HOPE it would return for a season nine. If they cancel it now, they’re fools! I just hope Misha Collin’s Castiel continues along for the ride. I want Jensen Ackles, Jared Padaleck, AND Misha Collins in the cast. Team Free Will!
