‘Doctor Who’ season 7: A vocal Christmas greeting from Matt Smith and company
In two days, “Doctor Who” will be airing a tradition in its annual Christmas special, but before we come to that, who is up for a rousing round of strange (but also awesome) Christmas carols. The video below from the BBC gives us all of the pre-special holiday cheer that we could ever hope for, as it features Matt Smith, the Doctor’s new companion Jenna-Louise Coleman, and of course a chorus of either beings to sing us a few songs as only “Doctor Who” can.
Of course, by “songs” we really just mean classic carols with a few funny lines pertaining to the franchise mixed in for added impact. It is rather interesting to see just how large of an impact the sci-fi hit has on not only British television these days, but also Christmas Day as a whole. Many plan their whole schedule around getting the opportunity to watch this show, and based on the advance reviews that have come out already for this hour, there is some rather fantastic magic brewing within this episode. We will see an original story that brings us a throwback to “Doctor Who’s” days of old, and a worthy introduction to a new character that we will be seeing plenty of during season 8.
Of course, the best news for American viewers is that you are not going to be left out in the cold on this Christmas at all. Instead, the special will be available for viewing Tuesday on BBC America … which is something that we wish ITV had so we could check out “Downton Abbey’s” Christmas special live, as well.
