‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: ‘Pretty Little Liars’ star is Barney’s….
If you are a fan of “How I Met Your Mother” like we are, odds are you have probably spent days upon days sitting around and speculating as tho who is the mother referenced throughout the series. Over time, one of the trendiest theories that has developed is that Barney’s half-sister, who was have never met on the show to this point, could be the woman that we have been waiting for so long to meet.
Where is the evidence of this? We know that she is around the right age to have been living with Rachel Bilson’s character of Cindy, and it would also make even more sense as to why Ted calls Barney “uncle” … but we think that this is more of just something Ted does with his friends given that he also calls Lily “Aunt Lily” in his stories.
Well, it is starting to look as though we are finally going to be meeting this mysterious sister … maybe. In a new post on Twitter, CBS announced that the show has cast “Pretty Little Liars” star Ashley Benson for a part that will be airing during the January 21 episode, but all they would say is that it is someone in relation to Barney.
Just to go along with the Mother theory for a minute or two, here is what we know already about the possibility that Benson could somehow be the mother. The actress may play a high schooler on her show, but she is 23 in real life and would have been perfect to play someone in Ted’s class back when he taught her without even knowing it. She also has the right complexion based on the various “leg shots” we’ve seen of the mother over the past few years. We will say this, though: if this is the show’s final season, having Benson appear now (if she is the mother) makes sense given that it would have something for the writers to build to later. However, Josh Radnor has said that he personally would like to see someone unknown playing the part of the Mother so that a famous face does not become a distraction.
