‘New Girl’ season 2, episode 10 review: How was Olivia Munn?
“New Girl” brought an extra lady into the mix this week, and for those of you who watch “The Newsroom” or “Attack of the Show!” with regularity, this one is going to feel familiar to you: Olivia Munn. She played a love interest for Nick during the episode, but it was hardly the sort of woman that would expect to see her playing.
After Nick ended up breaking his rule of going in front of the bar in order to spend some time with her, he quickly realized that not only would a certain man in her life be a problem, but that she also works as a stripper. Think of this as Quinn’s storyline on “Dexter” this season, minus all of the gunfire and the police. We’re not quite sure if Munn’s character really brings anything to the show just yet save for being a tough girl who ignores Nick’s rules, but it is nice to see her venture back to comedy for a little while.
The good news for Nick served in contrast for some bad news for Schmidt this week, as we saw him come to a very depressing realization with his relationship with Cece: his job and his boss are keeping him from being with her. He blew his one chance at making her happy for a promotion, and now, she is looking to be set up with someone courtesy of her mother so that she can start a family sooner rather than later.
Finally, we have to say that we loved the return appearance of the landlord Remmy this week for a story that revolved around two characters who don’t spend that much time together: Winston and Jess. We finally saw a little crazy out of the guy this week, as he and Jess concocted a crazy scheme about trying to hide the fact that they accidentally ruined some of Schmidt’s suits.
