ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 5 spoilers: Will an old villain return?

CasteWhile murder mysteries like “Castle” are always fun in terms of piecing the puzzle together, there is also one fatal flaw in them sometimes when it comes to long-term stories: since the bad guys get locked up at the end of every episode, the potential for having very much when it comes to “big bad” sort of characters (think Trinity on “Dexter” or Moriarty in the Sherlock Holmes novels) is pretty low.

However, there is still one notable exception to this role: 3XK. The villain (played by former “Pan Am” star Michael Mosley) resurfaced for an episode earlier this season in which Castle was ultimately framed for a murder, and in the closing minutes, it appeared as though Nathan Fillion’s character shot him. However, there are a plenty of ways that the man could be alive, given that he fell from a bridge and his body was never found. He could have been wearing a bulletproof vest, after all, and he could be a very good swimmer.

Just in case you want some further insight into this very subject as to whether or not 3XK is really dead, executive producer Andrew Marlowe had the following to say in a new interview with Wetpaint:

“Maybe. Let’s just say I haven’t ruled it out, but he may be dead. Castle may have killed him. I don’t know.”

What’s the showrunner translation here? Basically, the character could really be dead, but it has not been decided. For now, they will stay on the lookout for another story that fits the bill, and if Mosley is available down the road, they will surely bring him back.

Do you think this character is far too interesting for “Castle” to ignore forever? If you do want to check out some more Christmas scoop when it comes to the show, be sure to head over to the link here.
