Danneel Ackles recurring on Supernatural season 13; meet Sister Jo

After many questions on the subject, Danneel Ackles is finally set to recur on Supernatural season 13.

As first reported by Variety, Ackles is set to appear across several episodes of the CW series as Sister Jo, a character described as “a well-known faith healer whose good works attract the attention of someone very, very bad: Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino).” Of course any chance to get Pellegrino back on the show is going to make us happy, as does getting Ackles on board. Her first appearance is coming in episode 13, which is going to air presumably in either February or March depending on what The CW chooses to do when it comes to programming opposite the Winter Olympics.

One of the reasons we’re so excited about this role is that it marks a chance for her to work alongside her real-life husband Jensen Ackles; for fans who love their relationship you’ll certainly love a chance to see them both onscreen. Another reason is simply because Danneel’s done such a wide array of interesting stuff in her career! She appeared (credited as Danneel Harris) in multiple Harold & Kumar feature films as well as on One Life to Live, One Tree Hill, What I Like About You, Friends with Benefits, How I Met Your Mother, NCIS, and many other shows. She hasn’t done all that much in the supernatural realm — which makes a show like Supernatural a perfect venue for her to dive into and have a little bit of fun.

Supernatural season 13 has a pretty rich list of guest stars this season already — in addition to Ackles and Pellegrino, you’ve got such people as Kim Rhodes, Osric Chau, Jeffrey Vincent Parise, and Loretta Devine making her first appearance on the show in more than a decade.

Could this part for Danneel Ackles take her into season 14? We’ve come to learn that anything is possible and getting a role on Supernatural is the sort of gift that keeps on giving — even if your character is killed off. (Just ask Jim Beaver.)
