Chicago PD season 5 episode 3 spoilers: Another small Chicago Med crossover
Even though Chicago Med may not be premiering at the same time as either Chicago PD or Chicago Fire this fall, the franchise is still finding a way to put the franchise to good use. You’re going to have a chance to see Will Halstead during the upcoming premiere episode of Chicago PD — which makes sense, given that the character is going to be a suspect in a murder — and it now looks as though you’re going to be seeing Yaya DaCosta show up as April during Chicago PD season 5 episode 3 airing next month.
While we cannot say too much right now in regards to her specific role, you can take a look at the official synopsis below if you are interested in getting some additional details:
“After a van explodes during a Chicago street festival, a Muslim patrol officer Frank Toma (guest star Ben Youcef) goes missing and evidence quickly piles up pointing to his involvement. Burgess (Marina Squerciati) – who helped train Toma – is desperate to prove his innocence, even if that means going against her superiors. Also starring Jason Beghe, Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Elias Koteas, LaRoyce Hawkins, Amy Morton and Tracy Spiridakos. Guest starring Yaya DaCosta, Salar Ardebili and Mykelti Williamson.”
The Chicago Med crossover, even if it is just a small ones, is going to mark a great opportunity to get a small taste regarding what is going on with that show’s world. We don’t think you’re going to get any enormous updates about some of these characters at any point in the near future, so we should say to just go ahead and write that off as a possibility right now. The most important thing here is that Chicago PD will continue to feature that world, and this looks as though it’s going to be a great episode for Burgess as she challenges authority to confirm the character of an officer she believes in. This is important, especially at a time when there are unfortunately many who are just quick to jump to assumptions in regards to someone’s faith. Frank Toma has almost certainly experienced discrimination in his before, but there may still be something about this that feels rather different. He’ll need an ally, and the good thing about Burgess is that she is a character who we know is more than capable of fighting back when the chips are doing.
Prior to this episode, we’re going to have a chance to see some other storylines in regards to police reform — which, for the record, should be one of the biggest themes of Chicago PD season 5.
