Chicago Fire season 6 spoilers: On a (possible) new Otis love interest
In speaking on this subject more to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Derek Haas offers a little more insight as to who this new love interest in Lily is, and some of the different things that she brings to the show as a whole:
“Where Otis and Cruz and Brett (Kara Kilmer) live, there’s a bar — Mac’s Bar — that has a going out of business sign in the window, and they go to see if they could possibly buy some equipment … Then Otis starts to get the idea of maybe it’s time to build a Molly’s North. And you can imagine what problems — I mean victories! — that’s going to have for him. And there might be the daughter of Mac, her name is Lily, who is co-owner of that bar and Otis thinks is his type.”
As for whether or not these two have a future, Haas mentioned that even though Otis may think one way about Lily, that doesn’t necessarily mean that she feels the same way. That’s somewhat of a bummer given that we love the guy and he clearly deserves love! He seems like he would be super-sweet and appreciative to have it, and would do everything that he could to make it last.
We would be remiss to forget mentioning that we’re a fan of another Chicago Fire related pairing in Otis and Stella, though we’re not sure how popular that is. We just find that their chemistry is really fun and they get into a lot of really interesting trouble together. The more that we see these two bouncing off of each other, the happier that we’re probably going to feel at the end of the day. Even if they’re not together romantically, just keep putting them into scenes! (Side note: We’re going to post our own interview with Haas here on CarterMatt the week of the premiere, and one of the subjects that he touches on is how he discovered that Otis and Stella were fun characters to write together.)
Beyond Otis, of course there are going to be some other interesting stories that are worth exploring on Chicago Fire season 6. For one, we could have a really great opportunity to get to know some additional news on Brett’s past in the form of Hope, a friend from her childhood who comes through and has a liking for one of the other main characters.
