Crime Dynamic Duos finale: Major Crimes (Sharon / Andy) vs. Hawaii Five-0 (Steve / Danny)
After weeks of discussions and tens of thousands of votes, we’ve made it to the Crime Dynamic Duos Finale! The remaining contenders have fought hard past many worthy opponents, and just one of them is going to emerge with the title of champion for the next year. No matter who wins, these two shows are a firm part of our coverage rotation and you’ll be seeing a lot of news on them in the months to come.
We’ve got in one corner Sharon & Andy from Major Crimes; meanwhile, in the other we’ve got Steve & Danny from Hawaii Five-0. There can only be one champion in the end, and who that is will be entirely up to you! We’re going to break down the contenders and their path to the title below; at the bottom of the article is the poll to choose your favorite.
Voting Rules – You may vote however much you want within the specified voting window. Note that if you are struggling to cast repeat votes, you may need to clear your cache or use a different browser or device. If you are on mobile and you cannot view the poll, scroll to the bottom and click to view the non-AMP version of the page.
When does the poll end? – On Wednesday, August 30 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern time. At that point, we will remove the physical poll from the website so that no additional votes can be cast. We will then update the post with the final results. A formal announcement of the winner will be made on Thursday, August 31 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern.
The final contenders
Sharon and Andy, Major Crimes – We started the series with the two as a top seed, knowing from last year’s tournament just how well they performed throughout. This time around they’ve certainly had their challenges, but they’ve also had their blowout victories. Interestingly, scrappy underdogs Alex & Ryan from Quantico back in round 3 were more of a challenge than Danny & Baez from Blue Bloods in the final four. Nonetheless, they’ve conquered all and are a step away from the prize.
You’re going to find that the reasons for both entrants making it this far are fairly similar: Both of these shows have been on the air for over half a decade, and when you think about The Closer in this instance much longer. These characters, played by Mary McDonnell and Tony Denison, are a part of your TV family, and you never want to imagine a future without them. (The new season of Major Crimes is going to premiere on October 31 — Happy Halloween!)
Steve and Danny, Hawaii Five-0 – Meanwhile, these two guys also began the tournament as top seeds, and we knew that they would perform very well. They’ve taken on many difficult challenges along the way, whether it be Kensi & Deeks from NCIS: Los Angeles or Walt & Vic from Longmire. They’ve made it here, and a victory in this spot would give the show all the more buzz before it premieres on CBS on September 29.
Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan breathe a ton of life into these guys weekly, and they’re a part of your TV ohana for a lot of different reasons — they’re compelling in dramatic situations, they kick plenty of butt on a near-constant basis, and they’re also hilarious together. One of the best parts of this show is when Steve & Danny are in a car somewhere bickering with each other. Sharon & Andy are actually getting married on Major Crimes potentially this coming season; meanwhile, there are plenty of occasions in which Steve & Danny act like an old married couple with their squabbling.
